In an open-label extension, Barth patients gained a cumulative 96.1 m on the 6-minute walk test by week 168.
After 36 weeks of open-label treatment, walking distance improved by 95.9 m and symptom scores by 2.1 points.
Its cardiolipin-binding mechanism stabilizes mitochondrial membranes rather than acting as a general antioxidant.
In 218 participants, MMPOWER-3 failed its primary walk and fatigue endpoints at 24 weeks; the walk-distance estimate versus placebo was -3.2 m.
